We are open every day so come and say Hello.
While we may not be holding the Sheep's Head Yarn festival this year we have still busy down here in West Cork. Our yarn & fibre studio is NOW OPEN once again for the summer with lots of lovely things to choose from including finished gifts and home ware to yarn & fibre sundries
So head on down to the Sheep's Head, take a drive on the coastal road through the villages of Durrus and Ahakista, breath in that fresh sea air and just before you reach Kilcorhane follow the signs and take a left down to the studio at Farranamanagh.
We are open every day so come and say Hello.
We are taking a break from running the Sheep's Head Yarns festival for 2018 but we hope to return with a Yarn Extravaganza in 2019!
However, we will still be available to accommodate workshops and tour groups throughout the year and provide instruction covering various aspects of yarn craft. So please do get in touch and let us know what you would like to learn or improve on!
Our Studio at Farranamanagh will be open from Easter, throughout the Summer months for yarn craft supplies and handmade gifts from our talented producers.
Winter is Coming....
WOW what a summer!
This year we would like to thank Eileen for her support & the use of the function room at Eileen's Bar in Kilcrohane that we were lucky enough to use over the last few months for the pop-up shop
We have now relocated back to the Studio at Farrnamanagh, just outside Kilcrohane, once again for the winter months. You are still able to pop in & look around at the wonderful variety of pieces from our producers and find out information about the Yarn Festival which we are currently planning once again for the 3rd weekend in May (19th & 20th)
Knitting Tours are coming!!
We are soon to receive our first group of visitors from the Irish Tourism Tours who organise holidays just for Knitters touring across the beautiful country side of Northern and Southern Ireland. Those attending our workshop will receive an exclusive yarn, created for us by our friends at Irish Fairytale Yarns, which they can take back home with them as a reminder of their time on the Sheep's Head for more information please visit their website www.irishtourism.com/knitting.
If you are a tour operator or knitting / crochet group & would like to book a tour please get in touch and we can book you in.
First we'd like to say Thank you so much to everyone who came along to our 3rd Yarn Festival we really did have a great time meeting you all again and you all looked like you had fun!
I know we hit a few bumps in the planning this year but I really do think it was the best one so far and once again the weather was on our side too.
We would like to offer our thanks also to Eileen & Ian for use of the function room & outdoor area on Saturday for the Yarn market once again offering us a unique venue as only Sheep's Head can and to The Old Creamery cafe for helping out last minute on Sunday after the sad passing on Eileen's mother, Betty, on Saturday evening.
Our deepest sympathies are with Eileen and your family at your time of sadness.
Just a few more days and we'll be in full swing and once again some workshops are proving more popular than others.
We really do want to know if you are coming to a workshop and suggest you book your place... Even if it's as late as Friday night.
This way when we leave messages at our venues our Tutors know how many to expect and we can put you on the mailing list for next years festival.
Due to unforeseen circumstances our pop up shop is running a little later than planed but you can still visit the Yarn Market during Festival weekend which will now take place at Eileen's Bar
See you all soon!!
With so much excitment going on organising the yarn festival and the success of the pop up shop last summer we have decided to return to Kilcrohane village on May 1st 2017 for the summer season, this will also be our information base during the festival.
So this means we are once again looking for Irish yarn and fibre artists from across Ireland to join us as producers offering gifts and supplies not only to our local community but the many visitors that come to the beautiful Sheep's Head Peninsula.
Anyone can be a producer providing you are resident in Ireland and your items are

Happy New Year!!
As we all start to get back to normal life after the holiday season and the back to work and school begins so does the planning for the 2017 Sheep's Head Yarn Festival.
In the next few days we will be emailing all our tutors to see if they will join us for the 3rd year and help you all learn new skills and techniques in yarn and fibre.
The website is now set out a little differently so all workshops are under the side menu in the same place and we have a few additions to this years festival too.
Once again we ask if there is something you wish to learn that is not listed, that you get in touch and we'll see if we can make it happen.
We are also advising this year that if you are looking to book accommodation on the penisula that you dont wait as rooms were filling up fast.
We look forward to hearing from you all soon
We have been over whelmed with the response from Yarn & Fibre traders looking to join us over the festival weekend & can now confirm we have only 2 places available on Sunday only.
If anyone would like to join us them please get in touch soon
