In early 2014, after hearing stories from friends and family overseas and revelling in the delights of items bought and lessons taught, the idea for our yarn festival was born. And what better place to have a Yarn Festival than on the Sheep's Head peninsula in West Cork, Ireland.
The Sheep's Head Producers' started in 2011 with a small Sunday market in the village of Kilcrohane and since then have expanded greatly within the community. With their support and volunteers it has been possible to bring life to this event
We will hold various workshops, over the weekend of Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th May, for all skill levels for Knitting, Crochet, Felting & Spinning leading a trail from the Gateway of the Sheep's Head peninsula at Durrus, along the wonderful coastal road to Ahakista and then all the way through to Kicrohane the last main village before the Lighthouse at the end of the peninsula.
With the support of many local businesses and crafts people the idea gained much excitement to our relativity small but extremely beautiful part of West Cork and we hope that this event will become a regular sight on the West Cork Calendar in years to come.
We hope to see you there!
